Phil has a diverse background in hospitality management gained in the UK and worldwide. Born into the industry, he was fortunate enough to have two entrepreneurial parents who taught him every aspect of running a successful business, knowledge which led to an unwavering passion for the industry. Armed with this passion he elected to study Leisure and Recreation Management at Glasgow University in order to get a broader learning of business management. During his study time he embarked on a life changing student exchange to the USA where he was given the chance to run a 22 bedroomed Motel in New Jersey at the tender age of 19. It was here that he realised that he had a major interest in International hospitality at the highest level.
This led him to the world of cruise liners - he joined P&O cruises cutting his teeth on the reception desk, but his desire to stretch the boundaries soon took him into front office management where he was given the chance to be involved in the new build project of MV Aurora. During this project he forged a strong relationship with the senior Food & Beverage Management team and was soon learning from people he describes as "truly spectacular individuals". He enjoyed 3 successful years in high quality, high volume, multi outlet Food & Beverage Management before deciding he had to lead a "real life before it was too late" and moved to London.
Phil joined Restaurant Associates where he enjoyed a successful period as a Catering General Manager within a newly won lucrative contract in the city but was then lured to the world of Recruitment. His passion for the industry is as strong as ever and he joins Portfolio's Hotel division with a specialist focus on Finance and Hotel Operations.
