Client Profile

The company is one of the most high profile event companies in the UK a market leader in the design and successful delivery of some of the most complex and creative live events.

The Role

Reporting to the Chief Executive, the main purpose of the role is to plan and implement sales activities in order to meet company targets for retention, growth and profitability.

Key Responsibilities

§ Devise and implement sales strategy in accordance with the company’s business plan which may vary and be updated from time to time, and in doing so identify key activities and priorities

§ Ensure margins are maintained in accordance with the company business plan to maximize profitability

§ Plan and manage sales resources according to agreed budgets

§ Recruit, manage, train and motivate direct reporting staff according to company procedures and policy

§ Plan and implement sales, customer retention and development for all sales activities

§ Create and manage sales budget for the areas you are responsible for, managing to cost and headcount constraints

§ Manage sales people as appropriate and be responsible for recruitment, training, motivation, appraisal and standards of job performance of the individuals within the areas I am responsible for

§ Ensure the sales productivity is high (including your own) and costs are acceptable by ensuring the sales resources are planned and used in the optimum and appropriate manner

§ Prepare forecast on at least a monthly basis (and sometimes on a weekly basis where required) against sales in each area that I am responsible for

§ Monitor and manage changes to the forecast to ensure that the pipeline of activity is always sufficient to meet the allocated targets

§ Make frequent visits to customers either on my own or with other salespeople to help close business, monitoring and mentoring my staff and their development (giving advice and guidance) and to ensure that our propositions are valuable to the client and fit for purpose as well as ensuring that customer satisfaction remains at the highest level

§ Design sales campaigns and other activities to meet allocated targets on products and services across the areas of my responsibility and to hold internal meetings at sufficient frequency to allow analysis of the sales activities and check on productivity and effectiveness of those activities

§ To make sure that each reporting line member is appropriately trained in soft skills and in product knowledge to allow a wide-ranging portfolio of products and services to be offered to the company’s target customers for the areas that I am responsible for

§ To line manage the sales people so they are appraised and developed to allow greater effectiveness and capability over time

§ Maintain administration and relevant reporting and planning systems

Person Specification

§ Proven track record of achievement generating significant B2B sales growth in a similar or related environment.

§ High level of strategic acumen.

§  First class business development and negotiating skills.

§ Excellent networking skills adopting a highly visible approch amongst clients and the ability to consistently generate quality leads.

§ Credible and inspirational people manager and proven ability to recruit, train and develop highly successful sales teams.

§ Excellent organisational and problem solving skills.

§ A passion for service excellence.

§ Ability to communicate with stakeholders at all levels both externally and internally.

Package

A competitive salary is negotiable and a bonus scheme based on key objectives is planned.
